Foreshadowing Reggie Jackson’s Breakout
If at any point this season Reggie Jackson surprises you with his play and makes you wonder ‘Where did this come from?” think back to his breakout moment.
It came in Game 3 of the conference semifinals against Memphis.
A 10-second sequence midway through the third quarter provided a preview of the potential that could be on display this year.
[Tony] Allen’s sprawled-out body was all that stood between Jackson and the rim. So Jackson, a step inside the free throw line, hurdled him with a long stride before finishing the play with a scooping, double-clutching, left-handed layup off the backboard.
“What a play by Reggie Jackson,” Tirico exclaimed, seemingly in disbelief at what he had just witnessed.
OKC went on to lose by six. But that night, a star might have been born.
