#20: Donatas Motiejunas
The Timberwolves state they drafted Derrick Williams to keep him at the number two selection. If that is true, they have a lot of youth on their team. Do they want to add another young player to their roster?
Well, the Timberwolves just drafted Donatas Motiejunas from Lithuania. One thing is clear with this pick…they are either making the selection for another team or he will not come to Minnesota this season. David Kahn would be able to stash him away overseas.
This pick may not be immediately popular, but let’s allow the night to shake out and see whether or not he will remain property of the Timberwolves.
Update…as I’m writing, there are reports this pick is a part of a trade, as suggested. It looks as if Jonny Flynn may be on his way to Houston with Motiejunas. Making their way to Minnesota will be Brad Miller, the 23rd pick in this year’s draft and a future first rounder.
Hold on, Timberwolves fans. It’s about to get interesting.
**Update**
Now, reports the Timberwolves have traded the 23rd pick to Chicago for 28th pick, 43rd pick and cash. David Kahn is making moves now and I’ll post as everything is sorted out. We have to wait to truly see what he has up his sleeve at the 28th pick.
