2013 NBA Draft – #18: Shane Larkin
With the 18th overall selection in the NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks selected Shane Larkin.
Larkin, a point guard, starred collegiately at the University of Miami and was a key figure in the team’s breakthrough into the NCAA elite.
Reports are indicating the Atlanta will send Larkin to the Dallas as part of a proposed deal in which the Hawks received the No. 16 overall pick [Lucas Nogueira] and Jared Cunningham from the Mavericks.
Larkin figures to have an opportunity to earn quality minutes from day one in the league as the Mavericks have been in the market for additional help at point guard.
Larkin earned first-team All-ACC honors this past season and was also named a third-team All-American by Sporting News. Larkin is the son of Baseball Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin.
In his last collegiate season Larkin averaged 14.5 points and 4.6 assists per game on 41 percent shooting from three-point range.
