2013 NBA Draft Diary: Colton Iverson Pt. 2
This is Colton Iverson from Yankton, SD and Colorado State University once again checking back in with you.
I just had a whirlwind week visiting four NBA teams for predraft workouts. I competed against several players who are currently ranked ahead of me and I feel really good about how I performed. In several of the workouts I shot the ball really well, which has been a point of emphasis for me this summer. My shot is getting better and better every day and I’m happy with how I shot the ball this week. There is always room for further improvement though so I am in the gym every chance I get working to get better. A few teams also said they think my conditioning is better than ever. That is something I’ve worked hard on so it’s great to see that hard work paying dividends.
The feedback overall from teams this week was really positive. It was also great to meet each team’s front office staff and coaches and let them get to know me a bit. Hopefully they were able to see that I’m a humble, hard working guy who wants to get better every single day and help my team win games. At the end of the day, I really just care about winning and I’ll do whatever my team needs me to do to help make that happen.
I know that in the NBA my role is going to be to rebound and set hard screens to help my teammates get easy shots and I feel like that’s what I’m best at so that’s what I want to do. I do think my offense and shooting ability is underrated, though, but those opportunities will come with time. I just have to go out and earn it so that’s what I am going to do.
Right now I’m headed back to South Dakota for the weekend before I head back out for four more workouts next week. It is always good to be back home even if it’s only for a few days. It still amazes me that I have these opportunities right now but I’ve put in a lot of hard work to get here and there’s still a lot of hard work to come.
I’ll check back in soon and until then come follow me on Twitter @colton_iverson
