76ers’ Evan Turner: I’m Not Tanking Season
Evan Turner knows that expectations are low for the 2013-14 76ers.
Turner understands that ESPN picked the Sixers to finish with a 20-62 record and last in the Eastern Conference. He’s heard the talk about losing being best for the franchise’s future because they could get a top draft pick next June.
With so many changes and new GM Sam Hinkie overseeing the rebuilding process, Turner, who is heading into the fourth and final guaranteed year of his rookie contract, realizes there are no guarantees that he’ll remain a Sixer even until the end of the season.
“All I can worry about is being better,” Turner said. “I just don’t want to let these type of situations deter the fun I have with the game. Everything that’s been going on this summer has been about chess moves and money and all that. At the end of the day, it’s about playing basketball.”
