Post-Game: Brand Hits Game Winner For 76ers
Date Posted: 11/21/2008 9:06:00 PM   By: Librado Wright

It was supposed to be another game for Elton Brand against his old team the Los Angeles Clippers. But with the game on the line Brand stepped up with a big shot to win the game for the 76ers.

At one point the 76ers found themselves down five points with two minutes left in the game before point guard Andre Miller rose up over Baron Davis and knocked down a three-point shot to cut the lead to two points.

Then on it was all 76ers as they showed their toughness and talent. They out hustled and out ran the Clippers when they needed to to secure a win and most importantly get back to the .500 mark on the season.

Besides hitting the game-winning bucket, Brand had a season-high five blocks to go along with his 17 points and eight rebounds.

Thaddeus Young had another strong game with 17 points with most of that output being done in the first half. Young has now led or tied for the team lead in scoring seven times this season already.

Head Coach Maurice Cheeks thought the intensity in the last two minutes of the game was the reason the 76ers were able to come away with the win.

'It was a tough game but we hung in the there until the end. We got some stops towards the end that helped us out. As the game was going, we weren't getting any stops and they were getting offensive rebounds. The turnovers we had while pushing the ball up the floor resulted in a lot of buckets for them. I was proud of our guys for hanging in there."

Pre-Game: Dunleavy Talks About Trade
Date Posted: 11/21/2008 5:33:00 PM   By: Librado Wright

The game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers have not begun yet, but already there are some huge headlines coming out of the Wachovia Center.

The Clippers announced that they have traded for forward Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins from the New York Knicks in exchange for forward Tim Thomas and guard Cuttino Mobley. There were speculation all day that the Clippers were heavily in the mix for Randolph and it became official during shoot around today.

Head coach Mike Dunleavy regarded the trade as a turning point of the season and this franchise. He mentioned that Randolph somewhat replace the gap former Clipper Elton Brand left when he signed with the 76ers during this past summer free agency.

With this trade it left the Clippers with limited bodies to go in tonight's game. Dunleavy mentioned he will go with reserve guard Ricky Davis at the shooting guard position and fill in where necessary.

For the 76ers this trade might have came at the right time with all the story headlines focused around the reunion of Brand and the Clippers. This probably will allow Brand to relax knowing all the attention has been shifted to something else.

The Clippers are short handed tonight and the 76ers are hungry for a win. We will see how this match-up pans out.

Check back at the end of the game for player reactions and a recap.

Elton Brand Get First Look At Old Team
Date Posted: 11/21/2008 9:12:00 AM   By: Librado Wright

The Los Angeles Clippers are in town today for their usual lone visit of the season to take on the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wachovia Center. So what is so special about this match-up?

Well if you have been following the Sixers since this past summer you would realized that Elton Brand was a former Clipper and his breakup with his old team was a messy one and that could lead to some extra motivation on both sides.

Brand has repeatedly stated that there is no incentive or motivation to go out and score a ton of points against the Clippers, he is only looking for a win for his team that currently sits one game under the .500 mark.

Fair enough to say prior to the start of the game, but when the game actually begins how will Brand react to seeing a jersey that he passionatley wore for several years playing on the opposite side without getting a little hype?

We will see and I will be there live at the Wachovia Center tonight to get reactions before and after the game on Brand's big night.

Talk to then...
