Seriously: Underrated Defense

The Phoenix Suns are known around the league as a high flying, high scoring team. They hang points on everyone, and they have enough shots to keep four All-Star caliber players happy.

One thing the Suns are not known for is defense, and that's about to change.

The Suns handled the Orlando Magic on Saturday, after running Miami out in their own building on Friday.

Magic forward Rashard Lewis has struggled with his shot before the Suns game, but Suns forward Shawn Marion joked that he told Rashard not to take it personally, their doing that to everyone.

The knock on Phoenix over the past few seasons has been defense, and rightly so, and it seems the players are taking it a bit more personal this season.

They say defense wins championships. The Suns' mix of offensive firepower from so many different places, mixed with a new defensive intensity, may make the Suns the team to beat out West.

Seriously, a team that can hang 100 plus every night, and stop some of the best players in the league in their tracks is a good place to start for a team with championship aspirations.

this is what I like to see. our defense really is underrated. our defense on the perimeter one on one is actually one of the top in the league. our post defense isnt' great but that's because we're undersized. shawn marion should be dpoy this year. he's been an absolute animal deflecting passes getting steals helping on defense. he's been all over te place. GIVE MARION RESPECT!!! good article

Phoenix perimeter D has always been good..their problem has always been inside, and it hasn't improved at all..their perimeter D was good vs. Orlando, but look at what D12 did..dominated.. just look back at last year's playoffs, where Tim Duncan dominated them..if they play him again, the same thing will happen..same with Boozer, same with Yao..they need to address that problem..
