Take a little Charles Barkley, sprinkle in a little ESPN and what do you have?
A completely skewed version of reality.
The Round Mound of Rebound said the following while doing a TNT broadcast:
"Dallas is in trouble, man. They gonna have to do something.'"
Dallas is in trouble? That's new to the Mavericks, I'm sure. After beating the Utah Jazz on Saturday night they're just one game behind the pace they set last season, when they won a record-tying 67 games. They have yet to get their entire lineup healthy, yet are still among the top teams in the Western Conference. MVP Dirk Nowitzki is getting All-Star caliber support from Josh Howard, and Dallas has a couple of fairly easy games coming on a short road trip.
Trouble? What kind of trouble?
Certainly not the kind of trouble that has ESPN suggesting that Dallas is the prime target for Jason Kidd. Never mind that the Nets have no interest in trading him. If they did they would have sent him to LA or Indiana over the summer. Never mind that their owner already came out and said he doesn't want to trade Kidd. Never mind that the Mavericks are steadfastly committed to the group of players they currently have. Never mind that they would have to send practically half their roster to New Jersey to make a deal work . . .and then pay Kidd a ton of cash over the last season and a half of his contract.
If Kidd is as in love with returning to Dallas as we're being led to believe he can simply let his current contract expire at the end of the season and join the Mavs as a free agent.
But the Mavs aren't interested. As everyone who spends any time in American Airlines Center knows, the Mavs are completely committed to Devin Harris as their full-time point guard and Devin is more than up for the challenge.
Kidd to Dallas?
Always consider the source.
Have another sandwich , Chuck.
