SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- One day after Baron Davis left the
Golden State Warriors for the Los Angeles Clippers, Elton Brand
may do the opposite, according to a published report Wednesday.

Citing league sources, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that
the Warriors offered Brand a five-year deal worth between $85
and $90 million.

The All-Star forward also was offered a five-year deal worth
approximately $70 million from the Clippers, the report said,
and will decide which offer to accept later Wednesday night.

Brand opted out of his contract with Los Angeles just before
Tuesday's midnight deadline, forgoing $16.4 million in the final
year of the deal.

The Chronicle said Brand's agent, David Falk, told reporters
Tuesday that his client opted out with the intention of creating
cap space for the Clippers before eventually re-signing.

Ironically, Davis - who also opted out of his contract prior to
the deadline - left the Warriors to join his hometown Clippers,
who reportedly inked him to a five-year, $65 million contract
Tuesday.

By NBA rules, no deal officially can be announced until July 9,
when the league's free-agent moratorium ends.

Brand, who has been one of the league's toughest players on the
interior, played just eight games last season after suffering an
Achilles injury in a preseason workout. He has career averages
of 20.3 points and 10.2 rebounds in nine campaigns with the
Clippers and Chicago Bulls.
