Warriors F Maggette has hamstring tear
December 13, 2008
OAKLAND, California (Ticker) -- Golden State Warriors forward
Corey Maggette told the Oakland Tribune on Friday that he has a
small tear in his hamstring and is not sure when he will return
to action.
Maggette has missed Golden State's past three games - including
Friday's 119-108 loss to Houston - with what had been described
as a strained right hamstring. However, an MRI exam earlier
this week revealed the true extent of the injury.
"There was a like a little strain tear in there, which was what
I probably expected, being that this is like the fourth time
it's been happening," Maggette told the newspaper before
Friday's game. "I'm just trying to make sure I take precautions.
Now I think they want me not to just rest and come back and be
out again.
"I was thinking that I was going to probably play (against
Houston). But since they did a different test (Thursday), they
said my hamstring wasn't strong enough to try and go."
Hamstring problems have nagged the 29-year-old this season as he
also missed four games in early November with a strained left
hamstring.
Maggette, who has averaged 19.1 points and 5.7 rebounds in 16
games this season, did not travel with the Warriors (7-16) for
Saturday's game at Denver (15-7) and there's no timetable for
his return.
"I'm just going to try and be as patient as possible, because
I'm a very impatient person," Maggette said. "I just got to
humble myself."
