Even in an era when athletes stick around for about five minutes, some players mean more to their city than others.

Derrick Rose is certainly one of those players.

A star high school player from Chicago, he came back to the city to play for the Bulls following an NCAA title appearance with Memphis.

A new adidas ad — timed for the unveiling of a new D-Rose shoe — illustrates how the city feels about their basketball hero.

It starts with the city stopping in its tracks when Rose gets injured and follows his rehab and hopeful return.

Rose was averaging 21.8 points and 8 assists before he got injured. With a healthy Rose the Bulls were considered one of the favorites to win the NBA title.
