Additional Games to be Cancelled Today?
David Stern’s ax is expected to fall on more NBA games Monday, and this time it will hit the players where it hurts the most: in their wallets.
Even if Stern falls short on his threat to cancel games through Christmas Day, the next round of cuts will include games played starting Nov. 15, which is when the majority of players start to get paid.
According to the NBA Players Association, around 400 of the league’s 450 players are paid from Nov. 15-May 15. The others get checks year-round and will be paid until Oct. 31, even thought the lockout is only four days shy of entering its fifth month.
