Agent Exploring Overseas for Matthews

Wesley Matthews has carved out a great living for himself after going undrafted out of Marquette in 2009. Still, if push comes to shove, he isn’t going to let his lucrative five-year, $34 million dollar contract with the Portland Trail Blazers deter him from playing basketball somewhere next season.

After completing the first year of his Blazers’ deal, engineered as a poison dart to steal him from cash-strapped Utah, Matthews’ agent Lance Young isn’t letting the pay day stop him from finding his client work overseas if the lockout resumes.

“I’m looking into different policies and products for insurance purposes to see how we can cover him if he does play in Europe,” said Young, who reps for Octagon.”If it looks like it’s going to be a long lockout, he’s going to play overseas.”
