Agent: Grizzlies Not Extending Speights
O.J. Mayo, Darrell Arthur and Marreese Speights are eligible to negotiate long-term deals until 11 p.m. tonight. If no contracts are agreed upon then they will become restricted free agents after this season.
“We’re talking to their representatives to see if there’s a deal than can be worked for both sides,” Griz general manager Chris Wallace said. “It may or may not happen.”
Speights’ agent, Andy Miller, attended the Grizzlies’ road game Tuesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers. Miller said he had cursory talks with Wallace and Speights will not receive an extension.
They mutually agreed to revisit contract talks regarding Speights during the offseason.
