Ray Allen Brushes Off Garnett’s Snub

For (Ray) Allen, who played five seasons in Boston, the game was full of awkward moments. It started with him being absent when the Heat took the floor for their championship-ring ceremony before the game. He then ran to the Celtics bench as he was about to check in for the first time as a Heat player in the opening quarter.

Each player responded to the greeting until Allen reached Kevin Garnett, who ignored the gesture. Garnett, who earlier expressed his disappointment of Allen signing with the Heat in the offseason, refused to acknowledge the attempt at “peace.”

“You guys know KG,” Allen said. “I don’t’ take anything from it. Kevin is an intense competitor. He’s in a different world. The five years I played with him, you just have to respect it.”

Garnett told reporters he was just trying to stay “neutral.”
