Memphis Defense Breaks Losing Streak

There was nothing pretty about how they achieved the outcome.

Then again, that was the beauty of the Grizzlies’ 85-69 win over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night in FedExForum.

So it took holding the Kings to 34-percent shooting for the Griz to end a three-game losing streak and their most embarrassing stretch of this season.

Tony Allen gave the Griz his normal energy on defense. He also filled up the box score and that included the highlight of the game midway through the fourth quarter. Allen, who held the stats crew accountable for each of his assists, whipped a no-look pass over his head to Gay for an uncontested dunk. The play put Memphis ahead 72-60 midway through the final quarter.

But they forced the kings into 17 turnovers for the game and owned a 16-5 edge in fast-break points through three quarters.
