Arizona transferee Jones eligible to play
The NCAA has granted Lamont “Momo” Jones a hardship waiver, leaving the junior guard eligible to play at Iona this season.
Jones transferred from Arizona to move back to his native New York so that he could be closer to his family and ailing grandmother.
He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Jones averaged 9.7 points and 2.4 assists while starting all 38 games last season for Arizona, which reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament.
