Arkansas leading scorer Marshawn Powell will miss the rest of the season with torn ligaments in his knee.

Powell was injured during practice last Thursday and an MRI exam confirmed the severity of the injury.

He will undergo surgery and is expected to be sidelined for six to eight months.

The 6-foot-7 junior averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds and shot 71.4 percent from the field in two games this season.

Powell averaged 10.8 points last season and 14.9 points as a freshman.
