Ben Howland has been called a lot of names.

Beer pong player is a new one.

The embattled UCLA coach was spotted in a viral photo showing off his shooting form on Friday night outside of Pauley Pavilion while mingling with students who were camping out for Saturday’s College GameDay showdown vs. Arizona with Pac-12 title implications.

Some coaches, like VCU’s Shaka Smart, bring pizza to students showing their support for their hoops team. That or it’s soda and donuts.

This is why Howland is a player’s coach, a man of the people. (When he’s not grumpy).

Howland, wearing a tracksuit, went on to watch Shabazz Muhammad play beer pong.

Bill Walton, Howland’s most noted critic, would probably add some mind-numbing commentary like “Howland’s elbow is too far out on that shooting form. This is a disgrace to UCLA’s tradition.”

H/T Ryan Menezes and Chris Nguyen of the Daily Bruin and thanks Mitch Siam for snapping the photos of the weekend/year.
