Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge told the Oregonian that he is willing to forgo the entire 2011-12 NBA season so the Players Association can get a fair collective bargaining agreement.

Speaking at his basketball camp, Aldridge said he does not expect the season to start on time due to the lockout but believes there will be a shortened season. However, he is prepared to sit out until 2012 if necessary.

“If that’s what it takes to get a fair deal done, then yes,” Aldridge told the newspaper.

Aldridge, who serves as the team’s player representative, also said he is considering playing overseas if the lockout is not resolved.

Players were locked out by NBA owners on July 1. The sides have barely negotiated during the summer and are far apart on a new CBA.
