Bobcats lose franchise-worst 17th straight
Greivis Vasquez matched his career-high with 20 points as visiting New Orleans extended Charlotte’s losing skid to a franchise-record 17 games Monday with a 75-67 victory.Carl Landry had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Marco Belinelli scored 13 points as the Hornets won their fourth straight game despite resting guard Eric Gordon (knee).Gerald Henderson scored 27 points and Kemba Walker added 14 for the Bobcats, who combined with New Orleans to match the second-fewest combined points (142) in a game this season.The lowest is 141 when the Chicago Bulls defeated the Toronto Raptors 77-64 on Jan. 14.Charlotte (7-53) set the previous franchise mark of 16 consecutive losses earlier this season.The Bobcats pulled within 66-64 on Henderson’s basket with 1:09 to play before the Hornets concluded the contest with a 9-3 run.Charlotte shot 30.3 percent from the field and was 1 of 16 from 3-point range. New Orleans wasn’t much better, shooting 33.8 percent and 1-of-11 from 3-point range.The game was tied at 47 entering the final period. The two teams combined for 20 points in the third quarter, the lowest combined output since the New Jersey Nets and Portland Trail Blazers combined for 19 eight years ago.New Orleans was 4 of 23 in the quarter while scoring 12 points and went nearly eight minutes without a field goal. Charlotte hit 2 of 17 shots and went more than six minutes between its two baskets.Charlotte led 39-35 at halftime after shooting 37.5 percent. New Orleans shot 36.8 percent in the half.
