Bobcats Seriously Considering Cody Zeller
The Charlotte Bobcats are likely to have a lot of options to available to them when they use their fourth overall selection on Thursday night, with Ben McLemore, Anthony Bennett, Alex Len, and possibly even Nerlens Noel all potentially available to them. However, ESPN Insider’s Chad Ford tweeted on Wednesday that he’s hearing the Bobcats are seriously interested in a surprise draftee: Indiana’s Cody Zeller.
“There’s a growing belief that Cody Zeller is seriously in play at No. 4 to the Bobcats along with Alex Len, Anthony Bennett & Ben McLemore,” said Ford. ”Bobcats GM Rich Cho is a big Zeller fan. He’s pushing that direction but getting resistance.”
Earlier in the season, Zeller was a candidate to be selected with the top overall selection but saw his stock tumble over the course of the last few months when he didn’t experience as much growth as some scouts hoped he would. Plus, an early exit from the NCAA tournament didn’t allow him much opportunity to showcase his skills well into March as many expected.
Right now, Zeller is projected to be drafted in the 10-15 range, but interest from a team like Charlotte could immediately boost him right back into the conversation for the top five.
