Boston Celtics shooting guard Avery Bradley will miss the rest of the postseason after undergoing shoulder surgery Friday.

Bradley had the surgery to repair small tears in his left shoulder.

“It’s disappointing,” Rivers told ESPN.com. “Obviously when a player goes down, that’s disappointing, especially on what Avery has given us this year. His growth this year has been terrific, and it’s been great, and he’s become a very valuable piece to our basketball team.”

The Celtics will meet the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The second-year player has had a history of ankle and shoulder injuries since he was drafted as the 19th overall pick in the 2010 draft.

The surgery comes after Bradley had his three shoulder dislocations during the postseason. It was determined by team officials he risked greater injury if he played after the third dislocation, which he sustained during Game 4.
