Brook Lopez Named Rondo’s Replacement

Brook Lopez had to wait five seasons and an extra six days, but he’s finally an All-Star.

The Nets center was named an Eastern Conference reserve by commissioner David Stern on Wednesday, replacing Celtics guard Rajon Rondo, who is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Lopez, who was averaging 18.6 points before Wednesday’s game against the Heat, was passed over by the fan voters and the coaches, watching as Kevin Garnett, Chris Bosh, Joakim Noah and Tyson Chandler were selected.

Lopez is the only member of the Nets participating in All-Star weekend.
