Brooklyn Nets Sign Damion James

The Brooklyn Nets today signed guard/forward Damion James for the 14th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2012-13 NBA Development League season.  James joins more than 115 players with NBA D-League experience currently on NBA rosters.

Originally selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round (24th overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft, James (6-7, 225, Texas) returns to the Nets having played for the team during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, when he averaged 4.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 17.9 minutes in 32 games, 16 as a starter.

In 17 games, all starts, for Bakersfield this season, James is averaging 15.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 28.8 minutes.  James recorded three double-doubles, scoring a season-high 27 points to go with 11 rebounds in a win over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Dec. 30, 2012.

James is expected to join the Nets today and be available tonight when the team hosts the Indiana Pacers in Brooklyn.
