“I think everyone heard Mitch say I might get a more attractive offer, I think that was the word he used,” (Shannon) Brown said, referring to Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak. “At the end of the day, Phoenix was the team that had the most attractive offer.”

Brown said his Lakers experience was a career-maker.

“I’m just grateful and thankful,” he said. “Overall, it was the best situation for me. It was a good chance. I learned a lot. I got a chance to play with one of the greatest to ever do it. I got a chance to get coached by one of the greatest ever to coach.”

He referred to Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson.

“I just tried to take advantage of the opportunity,” Brown continued. “I got two championships out of it. I got a chance to build a lot of great relationships. I got a chance to showcase my talents to the world, and that’s all I could really ask for.”
