Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has been ruled out of Monday’s afternoon game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The reigning NBA MVP has been dealing with a toe injury over the past week. He initially suffered the injury during Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“It still hurts a little bit, but I still have to go out there and play,” Rose told the Chicago Tribune. “Almost every game, I jam it. By the way that I play and push off, it hurts. I’m very surprised. And I’m kind of irritated. I want it to go away. But it always finds its way back.”

Rose is averaging 20.8 points and 8.7 assists per game this season.
