Center Nene will not be available when the Washington Wizards face the Atlanta Hawks on Friday.
Nene was acquired from the Denver Nuggets on Thursday in a three-way trade involving the Los Angeles Clippers.
The veteran center, who has appeared in only 28 games this season, still must pass a physical.
The 29-year-old Nene, who signed a five-year contract in the offseason, was averaging 13.4 points and 7.4 rebounds for Denver.
