Calhoun at UConn practice against orders

Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun returned to practice Friday, against doctor’s orders.”I came back to practice, even though my doctors didn’t agree…This is my team, our team, and we started this thing 26 years ago,” Calhoun said Friday.Calhoun plans to return either for Saturday’s game against Pittsburgh or at the Big East Tournament on Tuesday in New York. He hasn’t been behind the bench since taking a medical leave on Feb. 3.The 69-year-old underwent successful surgery on his spine Monday. A large disk fragment that had been pressing on the spinal nerve was removed during the two-hour procedure. The team is 3-5 in Calhoun’s absence.
