When the New Orleans Hornets acquired restricted free agent Ryan Anderson in a sign-and-trade with the Orlando Magic, it became clear that unrestricted free agent Carl Landry wouldn’t be re-signing with the team. Now, the power forward is weighing his options and considering a number of situations.

“I’m still just trying to find the right fit for me,” Landry told HOOPSWORLD. “It’s still up in the air. Every day it’s something new. I’m just trying to take my time and make the best decision for me and my family.”

Landry is attending the Las Vegas Summer League to meet with executives and coaches around the league. The 28-year-old, who has played for the Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Hornets, wants to join a playoff team.

“I definitely want to win,” Landry said. “I want to play for a team that wants to go to the playoffs. That’s my goal when I’m on a team: to go to the playoffs, try to go as far as I can and hopefully win a championship.”

Landry stressed that “stability” is also an important factor as he weighs his options. After signing a one-year deal last summer, Landry is looking for a multi-year deal. Other things he’s looking for in his next team include “good teammates, a good coach and a good system.”

The Golden State Warriors have expressed interest in Landry, according to sources close to the situation. Jarrett Jack, who played with Landry in New Orleans, started campaigning for the Warriors to sign the power forward shortly after he was acquired earlier this week. Landry appreciated Jack’s comments and didn’t rule out the possibility of teaming up with him in Golden State.

“Jarrett is a good player,” Landry said. “I think he’s one of the better point guards in the league. He’s a leader, a scorer and a passer. It’s a great pick up for Golden State. If I end up there, he’ll be a great addition to that team and a great teammate as well.”

Landry will continue to weigh his options and make a decision in the coming days.
