Carlesimo: Lopez Has ‘All-Star Hangover’
Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez didn’t show up on the court or in the locker room following his team’s 76-72 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night at Barclays Center.
Lopez, who went 3-for-10 from the field and was benched again for the entire fourth quarter, exited toward the players’ parking garage with GM Billy King without speaking to reporters. King was overheard encouraging Lopez and backup center Andray Blatche not to speak or criticize the referees in order to avoid being fined.
Nets interim coach P.J. Carlesimo has said Lopez is enduring an “All-Star hangover,” but cautioned that he didn’t want to bench his 24-year-old center in fourth quarters because it was “bad for him.
