Based on his first 25 minutes in a Maverick uniform, Eddy Curry looks like he will fit in OK with the Mavericks.
Curry, the 7-foot, 295-pound center who was claimed off the waiver wire Thursday and shoved immediately in the starting lineup on Friday in the preseason finale, had 11 points and seven rebounds in the Mavericks’ 99-82 victory over Charlotte.
It wasn’t perfect by any means, but for a team that didn’t have a healthy center in sight before acquiring Curry, it was golden
“I felt pretty good,’’ Curry said. “Obviously there’s some things I can do better out there, but considering a little more than 48 hours ago I was in San Antonio, it wasn’t too bad.’’
“I thought he did OK,’’ coach Rick Carlisle said of Curry. “He’s a really good offensive player around the basket. Defensively, there’s some things we got to work with him on. His pick-and-roll defense, he tends to sag back and zone up and our coverages are more aggressive. It’s just something he’s got to get use to.’’
