For the last seven seasons, the Mavericks have relied mostly on Jason Terry to be the primary scoring option after Dirk Nowitzki.

With Terry in Boston slinging shots up for the Celtics, things have changed for the Mavericks.

Coach Rick Carlisle said one of the things he’s hoping to see in the preseason home opener tonight against Houston is some diversity on the offensive end.

“We’ve got to have a team of go-to guys,” he said when asked if he could visualize a clear No. 2 option on offense. “We got to have 15 guys who are locked and loaded and ready to step into their shots.”
