Cavaliers G Irving out with sprained shoulder
Cleveland Cavaliers franchise guard Kyrie Irving missed Saturday night’s contest against the New York Knicks because of a sprained right shoulder.
Irving suffered the injury during the second quarter of Friday’s 121-84 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. The top overall pick of the 2011 draft, Irving finished with a game-high 29 points.
“I’m in pain right now, but (I’m) getting through it, taking a lot of Advil and anti-inflammatories and (going) from there,” Irving said. “Throughout the third quarter, (I) still shot the ball, but (there’s) just a lot of pain in my shoulder right now. I’ve just got to get through it.”
Irving is averaging 18.9 points and 5.7 assists during his rookie season with the Cavaliers.
