The Cleveland Cavaliers plan to retire the No. 11 jersey of long-time center Zydrunas Ilgauskas.

LithuaniaBasketball.com reported the plans Monday. Ilgauskas is a native of Lithuania who was a member of the Cavaliers from 1996-2010.

On a recent trip to China, Cavaliers top overall pick Kyrie Irving told reporters that he wanted the number but was told by team officials that it is being retired.

The 7-3 Ilgauskas was the 20th overall pick in the celebrated 1996 draft and survived a series of foot surgeries that threatened his career to receive All-Star berths in 2003 and 2005. He is the franchise’s all-time leader in games, rebounds and blocks.

In 843 career games, Ilgauskas has averaged 13.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks. He left Cleveland after the 2009-10 season and signed with the Miami Heat.

Other Cavs who have had their numbers retired are Bingo Smith, Larry Nance, Mark Price, Austin Carr, Nate Thurmond and Brad Daugherty.
