Cavs Unsure About Nerlens Noel?

The Cavaliers are facing a major conundrum with Kentucky forward/center Nerlens Noel.
Noel, ranked first on some teams’ draft boards, is coming off a torn left ACL.
Recently, it was disclosed that he had a fractured growth plate in his left knee in high school. That’s potentially a major discovery.
If he’s red-flagged by the Cavs, they could pass on the 6-foot-11 3/4, 206-pounder.
Their doctors have to be 100 percent sure about his knee. As it is, he’s expected back on the court around Christmas. That scares off some observers.
Cavs majority owner Dan Gilbert has said he wants the team back in the playoffs in 2014. So, they’re going to draft a player that will miss at least a third of the season, needs to pack on 25 pounds and has little or no offensive game?
And you want to be a general manager? “He’ll definitely not be ready for summer league or the preseason,” NBA director of scouting Ryan Blake said. “He needs to put on weight, get in shape and have some kind of impact this season. That’s going to be tough to do.”
Noel fractured the growth plate in his left knee during his sophomore year at Everett (Mass.) High School, which caused him to miss all but five games that season.
