Celtics’ “Big Three” could sit vs. Bobcats

Boston Celtics veteran forward Kevin Garnett could get the night off when his team faces the Charlotte Bobcats Sunday.Garnett, along with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, could watch the game from the sidelines. Head coach Doc Rivers has talked to his veterans about rest before the postseason begins and Sunday’s contest with the 7-51 Bobcats could be the best spot.Pierce is expected to sit out after jamming his left big toe in Saturday’s win over the New Jersey Nets. Allen, who has been coming off the bench in recent games, is nursing an ankle injury and missed Saturday’s contest.Garnett has filled in at center with an injury to fellow veteran Jermaine O’Neal. He scored 21 points Saturday and is averaging 15.9 points and 8.4 rebounds this season.Boston (35-25) is first in the Atlantic Division and holds the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference standings, 10.5 games back of the first-place Chicago Bulls.
