Slow Starts Concern Celtics Coach Stevens
Head coach Brad Stevens continued to shuffle his starting lineup Friday night against the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Boston Celtics extended a habit of slow starts.
“We need to start better,” Stevens told reporters in Delaware. “If you look at it we haven’t started great in – I don’t know if it’s four out of six halves now, but it’s certainly most of the halves. It might be five out of six. But we have to start better, we have to start better. I thought Philadelphia (76ers) set the tone in a lot of ways, and when you do that, usually good things happen to you.”
“I think the most important thing is who plays well together for long stretches. Because we have to obviously play groups for long stretches,” said Stevens. “I continue to think that (Gerald) Wallace’s effort stands out and I think he’s doing a great job of leading from that regard. We have a lot of guys that are doing good things, but we have a lot to improve on.”
