Celtics’ Wilcox Out With Thumb Injury

Basketball News & NBA Rumors

Boston Celtics’ center Chris Wilcox suffered a ulnar collaternal sprain in his right thumb in the Celtics 100-89 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Dec. 18.

Head Coach Doc Rivers believes Wilcox will be out 3-4 weeks, leaving the Celtics even more thin in the front court. This forces the Celtics to potentially rely more heavily on rookie Jared Sullinger and veteran Jason Collins.

Wilcox was averaging 4.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game before his injury in a reserve role.
