Chandler Out Another Week; Thomas Done?
The glow of their lone West Coast victory and likely return of Carmelo Anthony tonight was dimmed by yesterday’s grim MRI exam results for centers Tyson Chandler and Kurt Thomas.
After returning from a rocky 1-4 West Coast journey, an MRI exam on Chandler’s neck revealed bulging diskin the cervical spine. The Knicks announced he would miss approximately another week. Chandler already missed the last three games of the West Coast trip.
Thomas, just one day after being awarded the game ball for his gritty efforts in Monday’s victory in Utah, had his MRI reveal what the club termed an acute stress reaction surrounding a chronic stress fracture in his right foot. He will be out two to four weeks, perhaps returning in time for the playoffs, perhaps not at all.
