A charity basketball game involving NBA players scheduled for Sunday was canceled because of the potential that the league’s lockout could come to an end.

According to a release, many of the players involved in the exhibition in New Castle, Ind., were advised to prepare for the league and players’ association reaching an agreement.

The “King of the Castle” event was to involve John Wall of the Washington Wizards, Zach Randolph of the Memphis Grizzlies and Eric Gordon of the Los Angeles Clippers, among others.

NBA owners and players met with federal mediator George Cohen on Saturday. Cohen was present during a lengthy three-day session last month when it appeared that progress was being made on a new collective bargaining agreement.

Negotiations between the sides have broken down before as the sides have yet to agree on how to split basketball-related income.

Commissioner David Stern has already canceled games through November, with more possible cancelations looming in the near future.
