College of Charleston coach Bobby Cremins will miss the remainder of the season because of an undisclosed medical issue, the school announced.

Cremins, 64, called assistant Mark Byington on Friday morning to reveal the news.

“The despair in his voice last night and this morning, I knew something was wrong,” Byington said.

Cougars’ athletic director Joe Hull detailed that Cremins’ condition was not life-threatening.

The College of Charleston has dropped six of its last eight to fall to 12-8 on the season.
