Charlotte, NBA Discussing Name Change
Now that the New Orleans Hornets have announced that they will become the New Orleans Pelicans, the Charlotte Bobcats announced that they have been in contact with the NBA about a name change of their own. The team is looking into the possibility of reviving the Charlotte Hornets name.
“We are aware of the impending change regarding the team nickname in New Orleans,” said Fred Whitfield, who is the Bobcats Sports and Entertainment President and COO, in a statement. “We are currently in contact with the NBA and conducting our own due diligence relative to this matter. We will not have any further comment until we have completed this process.”
