Chris Kaman Near Deal with Mavericks

As first reported by Marc Stein of ESPN.com, free agent center Chris Kaman is nearing a deal with the Dallas Mavericks.

While nothing has been finalized, HOOPSWORLD can confirm both sides are working on a one-year deal that would pair the former New Orleans Hornet/Los Angeles Clipper with Dirk Nowtizki.  Kaman and Dirk bonded previously as teammates with the German National Team.

The Mavericks are still looking to replace the void left by Tyson Chandler’s departure while still maintaining cap flexibility for the future.

Guard Deron Williams was a primary target but he chose to stay with the Brooklyn Nets instead of his hometown Mavericks.

Kaman has since taken to Twitter to confirm as well.
