When no one else believed, Chris Paul was convinced.

Admit it. You didn’t give the Clippers any chance of beating the Memphis Grizzlies here in Sunday’s Game 7 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, and neither did I or anyone else.

But then there is Paul, the All-Star point guard the Clippers traded for last December hoping and praying he’d be the savior to lead them from their dark, painful past.

Paul believed. Paul had faith.

Paul was so certain the Clippers would prevail in Game 7 he purchased airline tickets for his wife and son Saturday, destination San Antonio, the site of Games 1 and 2 of the conference semifinals.

That is confidence.

“You can call it what you want to,” Paul said, with a wink in his eye.
