Clippers, Crawford Close to Four-Year Deal
The Los Angeles Clippers are closing in on a four-year, $24 million deal with unrestricted free agent Jamal Crawford, according to sources close to the situation. The two sides are still finalizing the deal, which can be signed on July 11, when the league’s moratorium ends.
Crawford visited with the Clippers earlier this week and the team canceled their scheduled meeting with unrestricted free agent Ray Allen shortly after.
Crawford was also receiving interest from the Minnesota Timberwolves, Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers among others. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin helped recruit Crawford to the Clippers, according to sources.
Last season, Crawford averaged 13.9 points and 3.2 assists in 60 games with the Portland Trail Blazers.
