Clippers knew it and couldn’t stop it

For a big part of the first half Saturday, the Clippers were waiting for the Spurs to make their move.

Up 22 after a quarter and up by as many as 24 in the second, the Clippers still had no doubts the Spurs were going to make it a game.

“You knew they were going to make a run,” forward Blake Griffin said. “It was just a matter of trying to withstand it and still play through it, still hit shots and lock in defensively. They’re too good of a team to lay back and take a loss like that.”

The Spurs slashed the Clippers’ lead to 10 by halftime, and a 24-0 run in the third quarter flipped momentum for good.

“That sucked the life out of us,” Clippers guard Randy Foye said.

During the entire game, Foye said the Spurs’ demeanor never changed.

“To have them come back and pick us apart like that,” Foye said, “that was tough.”
