The Los Angeles Clippers will sign small forward Dajuan Summers of the Maine Red Claws in the NBA development league, a person with knowledge of the situation confirmed.

The person spoke to USA Today Sports on the condition of anonymity because the signing had not yet been announced.

Summers was selected by Detroit in the 2009 second round after three seasons at Georgetown. The Clippers waived forward Trey Thompkins earlier on Thursday in order to make room for Summers.

Yahoo! sports first reported the signing.
