EVANSTON, Ill. – Jordan Hulls was put in an interesting position Sunday afternoon against Northwestern.
A career 88 percent free throw shooter, Hulls had missed his first three of the game. Late, when Northwestern was trying to get back in it the Wildcats were fouling Hulls.
Hulls hit four free throws in the final minute and Victor Oladipo also hit two as No. 2 Indiana held on for a 67-59 victory over Northwestern before a pro-IU crowd at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Cody Zeller had a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds, Christian Watford had 14 and Hulls had 13 to lead the Hoosiers.
Indiana (16-2, 4-1 Big Ten) is now 3-0 in conference road games. A year ago, IU was 3-6 on the road for the Big Ten season.
The Hoosiers held a double digit lead in this one for most of the game. Northwestern (11-8, 2-4) did cut the lead to five on a couple of occasions. It was 47-42 with 6:34 to play before IU had three big shots.
Zeller tipped in a Hulls 3-point miss, Oladipo hit a huge three for the left wing with 4:51 to play and Will Sheehey knocked down a mid-range jumper.
