UConn’s Calhoun out at least 3 more games
Connecticut men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun will miss at least three more games due to his back issues.
Calhoun has not coached since taking an indefinite medical leave of absence on Feb. 3 to deal with spinal stenosis, which causes pain and limits mobility.
The Hall of Fame coach has already missed three games and will sit out games Wednsday, Saturday and Monday.
“I am happy that we seem to have located the problem and I am currently moving forward with treatment,” Calhoun said in a statement. “We have to give that treatment time to see whether or not it is effective.”
Calhoun guided Connecticut to the national championship last season – the school’s third title under his tenure.
Associate head coach George Blaney will continue to coach the Huskies (15-9, 5-7 Big East).
Calhoun has 868 career victories, placing him sixth on the all-time list.
